Any person can get involved. From participating in discussions on firewood supplies for Occupy camps to create scientific work, the selfless work of many people strengthens the movement from day to day. This movement is real and powerful, even though many people do not (or does not) have been informed.
- Sudbury ON CA
Occupy Sudbury is a local representation of the global Occupy Everywhere movement. It is a response to the many failings of the current system. We have organized because we reconize that justice and social change has never come from the top, but is only attained through struggle and activism from the bottom. Occupy is a participatory movement, lead by the power of consensus and general assemblies.
Occupy struggles for a more democratic and inclusive politics. Democrasy derives it's legitimacy from the people, but corporations do not seek the consent of the people to extract wealth from them, or from their land or from the Earth. No democracy is possible when the political process is determined by private corporate power. Democracy must extend into all spheres of our lives including our worplaces, universities, schools and communities.
Occupy struggles for a democratic, particiatory economics. We reconize that an increasing number of people in the world are becoming a surplus humanity; more and more people are becoming unnecessary to the profit-driven system and are being excluded from it. in the West the middle and working classes are being eroded and poverty is rising, while in the emerging world development brings prosperity for some, but disposetion and exclusion for a great many others. The politics of austerity are being pushed against the poor, the oppressed and the marginalized around the world. A world in which there is no solidarity and cooperation is one that is unsustainable.
Occupy struggles for a sustainable future. An economic system that is infinitely expanding, and that produces growing inequality will deplete and destroy the finite ecology on which it depends. the pursuit of private, short-term gain is causing dire warning about human-made climate change to go unheeded by the world's government - especially the Canadian government. Sustainability can only be achieved through justice.
Occupy reconizes that colonization of the First Nations' land is not just a set of historical events; it is an ongoing process that is closely connected to the concentration of wealth and power in the hands of the 1%. Colonization has lead to the dispossession and marginalization of the Indigenous peoples around the world and we are commited to a process of decolonization. Occupy also recognizes that the developing nations of this world have the right to benifit their populations equally with the developed nations of the world. Aboriginal rights and environmental justice must be upheld if humanity is to survive.
We support stuggles against poverty and austerity around the globe, from Greece to the Arab World. in Ontario we support the Raise the Rates campaign to dramatically raise social assistance and minimum wage and to stop the slashing of the special dietary supplement for those on social assistance.
As a society we seem to lack responsibility; quite literally our ability to respond. This is because we do not see ourselves as individuals and groups who are responsible. It is clear that major change is needed; that our system is broken, and that this system is, ultimately, a product of human labour. Thus we have the power to respond to the injustices in our societies and to re-make the system that is causing them.
We, as individuals, in our hearts and in our minds, need to reassess what is important to us and what we value. We must acknowledge that we all contributed to the problems we ourselves face; either directly through our actions, or indirectly through our inaction. Lend your ear to the voices of the forgotten, act on your decent impulses, fight for change, and exercise your response- ability!

- Hamilton ON CA
Occupy Hamilton stands in solidarity with the Occupy movement that began in New York City on September 17 2011, inspired by the Arab Spring and other peaceful protests.
We seek to call for greater morality, responsibility and accountability into our corporate, economic and governmental systems which focus far too exclusively on profit at the expense of the people, the flora and the fauna.
Historically, our society has placed profit above universal human rights as well as the well being and sustainability of the earth we live on and all lifeforms that inhabit it.
We believe that no one human being should be placed above another. We are all equal and need to be treated as such.
We as the 99 percent believe that major entities in the private sector have too much influence over our governments and our legislature. We seek to eliminate corporate person hood and their influence over government regulation and our politics.
We believe that there is too much destruction and corruption within these corporations, our economic systems and within our government, on a local, regional, national and global scale.
When the corporate and government record of abuses rival anything we can imagine, it is time to stand up and say, "Enough!" This is what we are doing.
We believe that all people are entitled to express their concerns on issues that affect humanity as a whole and to come up with solutions to fix the problems that our government has failed to address and correct.
The media seems to be focused on a singular demand. To this, we respond that there are multiple issues that need to be addressed and corrected and that they cannot be summed up in one singular demand. We believe that the people should and will, collectively, come together and make these demands.
We strive to build a world that is kinder, more compassionate, fair, responsible and above all, accountable.
We are proud to be a part of this organic work in progress.
"Mindful of significant critiques of the word "occupy", we recognize that this is appropriated indigenous land, and therefore already "occupied". We respect the rights of & stand in solidarity with the indigenous people of this land, striving to struggle with open minds & mutual respect for a more just world."

- London ON CA
Occupy London is a peaceful grassroots movement that is dissatisfied with the current political and economic systems in Canada and around the world. We are an independent branch of, and endorse, the same values and philosophy as the Occupy Wall Street movement. We have mobilized to find solutions to the difficulties we face in our society today.
Occupy London stands in solidarity with Occupy Wall Street and the European Indignants movements. We seek and work to create major change to our economic systems which are destroying our businesses, social liberties, and environment. We are, through entirely non-violent means, sending a message to the financial sector worldwide that banks exist to serve us, not the other way around, and that the practices of speculation and fractional reserve banking have created a massive inequality and are no longer valid systems.
We believe that current monetary policies enacted through globalization and privatization are unacceptably harming the majority, and that monetary policy should be created to help these very people. Our target is to change these systems to help the 99% of the population, instead of just the 1% that they currently benefit.
Everyone is encouraged to join the movement, this movement affects us all.
Who are we?
We are citizens, professionals, students, activists, parents, unemployed workers, teachers, professors, voters, business owners, and the underrepresented of the 99%. We are interested in separating money from politics and improving the country’s infrastructure to fix healthcare, education, environment and the economy.
Together we can shift power away from the top 1% to be inclusive of all people.Founded2011-10-15

The Oshawa Organizing Assembly lends its support to the Occupy Toronto protests. Upon consensus, the Oshawa Organizing Assembly agreed to these demands, which are subject to revision or recall by consensus at any future meeting of the Oshawa Organizing Assembly:
1) Finding alternatives to the fractional reserve banking system;
2) Opposing the corporate funded police state;
3) Ending corporate welfare;
4) Political campaign finance reform;
5) Democratization of the political process;
6) Ending income inequality;
7) Making environmental degradation an offense under the Criminal Code of Canada;
8) Ending subsidization of the tar sands, leading to an eventual end of oil extraction from the tar sands, and investing in renewable and alternative energy;
9) Ending the funding of the military industrial complex via the Canadian tax system and restoring Canada’s role as a peacekeeping nation;
10) While a distinction should be made between property damage perpetrated by protesters and physical violence perpetrated by police, the Oshawa Organizing Assembly is committed to peaceful protests and our support of the Occupy Toronto protests will be contingent on the demonstrations remaining peaceful. Members of the Oshawa Organizing Assembly who wish to participate in tactics outside of this mandate will be acting as autonomous individuals and will not be representing the goals and objectives of the Oshawa Organizing Assembly.
11) End wage slavery and promote co-operatively owned, democratic workplaces.
12) Promote 'fair trade' not 'free trade'

- Nanaimo BC CA
We stand here in Solidarity with thousands of people around the world against Corporate Corruption and Greed. On September 17th New York answered a call from the Vancouver based organization Adbusters. Adbusters Called out to the people of New York to flood Wall St. and set up peaceful camps, kitchens, and began occupying public space. They initially called for 20,000 people but received much fewer. In the first weeks people started coming and answering the call to Wall St. They heard the message that It wasn’t ok for the vast Majority of people in the world to be struggling to get by when there were people who hoarded wealth. After over 700 people were arrested on the Brooklyn bridge people came in droves. Cites across the United States started Occupying, and since October 15th the world has joined the occupation movement.
We in Nanaimo are standing in solidarity with our brothers and sisters around the globe. We are lending our voices to a cause that calls for equality and fairness among all of humanity. We are demanding that needs of humanity do not conflict with the needs of the natural environment. We believe that poverty and poor health can be abolished. We believe a better world is possible.
We will stand with the rest of the world, we will see this through till the end.

- Nelson BC CA
We stand in Solidarity with the thousands worldwide.
In a world where over 50% of the worlds population lives on less than 2 dollars a day, and where less than 1% of the worlds population owns the rights and access to over 90% of the worlds resources, while degrading the environmental integrity of our planet to the point of not withstanding life within a hundred years.... One thing is for sure - Something has to happen, and we're staying here to tell everyone that.
Leaderless , Non-Violent , Against corporate greed. Direct horizontal democracy put into practice. Help us call for a separation of corporation and state. We are here to educate the public where the mainstream has failed to report and present information on issues we all face that target the root causes of our financial crisis, economic stability, social atmosphere and general quality of life.
This page was created for citizens gathering on October 15th 2011 in Nelson BC to join and in support of world-wide protests against corporate greed and for a sustainable future with a healthy environment.
Occupy Nelson became a hugely successful event on October 15th in Nelson , which saw close to a 1000 people in the streets and the public square , this in a town of close to 10,000 people. An amazing turnout. There were speakers , open-mic , entertainers , dancing , food , movies and an uplifting march/parade that would rival any in Nelson history.
After the world-wide day of solidarity protest on Saturday October 15th , a group of activists took the torch from the original organizers and began a true occupation of the Government Building of Nelson , which also happens to be city hall.
The Occupation is on-going as we speak, and looking to further cooperation and diplomacy with the Mayor, City Council and community on how we can go about creating change in our community. The act of staying and occupying the space stands to act as a reminder that we cant just go "back to normal" or back to "business as usual" for this is a group that has taken the time to see just how little time we have left before things get much worse for everyone. We have to Be The Change NOW.Founded2011-10-15

We stand for a united society of equality, humanity and integrity of the pillar. In today's society, businesses and politicians held company, and those who suffer are the citizens. We want to strengthen the individual freedom and integrity in relation to businesses and current business practices. In our time, business methods become equivalent to driving over the individual in favor of corporate dividends, in our time used tax money to invest in venture capital funds, with profits going to private pockets, in our time, pensioners curtsy and say thanks for the crumbs from the table , in our day is young people absolutely last, only the strong survive, the rest make do as best they can. It is our job to remind people that they have real power, the politicians are really servants of the people, that those who govern do so with the people's best interests in mind, that an awakened population can not possibly be controlled by the few.
