Occupy Hamilton CAN
Hamilton ON CAOccupy Hamilton stands in solidarity with the Occupy movement that began in New York City on September 17 2011, inspired by the Arab Spring and other peaceful protests.
We seek to call for greater morality, responsibility and accountability into our corporate, economic and governmental systems which focus far too exclusively on profit at the expense of the people, the flora and the fauna.
Historically, our society has placed profit above universal human rights as well as the well being and sustainability of the earth we live on and all lifeforms that inhabit it.
We believe that no one human being should be placed above another. We are all equal and need to be treated as such.
We as the 99 percent believe that major entities in the private sector have too much influence over our governments and our legislature. We seek to eliminate corporate person hood and their influence over government regulation and our politics.
We believe that there is too much destruction and corruption within these corporations, our economic systems and within our government, on a local, regional, national and global scale.
When the corporate and government record of abuses rival anything we can imagine, it is time to stand up and say, "Enough!" This is what we are doing.
We believe that all people are entitled to express their concerns on issues that affect humanity as a whole and to come up with solutions to fix the problems that our government has failed to address and correct.
The media seems to be focused on a singular demand. To this, we respond that there are multiple issues that need to be addressed and corrected and that they cannot be summed up in one singular demand. We believe that the people should and will, collectively, come together and make these demands.
We strive to build a world that is kinder, more compassionate, fair, responsible and above all, accountable.
We are proud to be a part of this organic work in progress.
"Mindful of significant critiques of the word "occupy", we recognize that this is appropriated indigenous land, and therefore already "occupied". We respect the rights of & stand in solidarity with the indigenous people of this land, striving to struggle with open minds & mutual respect for a more just world."

Occupy Quebec City
Quebec City QC CAWe are student (s), worker (is) s and unemployed (is) s. We are parents, young people and retired people. We are of all trades, of all nationalities and religions. WE ARE 99% OF HUMANITY!
October 15, 2011, we will take to the streets and take control of public spaces worldwide. From America to Asia, from Africa to Europe, we are mobilizing right now to demand our rights and demand a true democracy. In our societies, decision-making power in the hands of a governing elite totally immune to the will of the majority and completely disconnected from reality, enriching themselves at the expense of human lives and the degradation of our environment. This intolerable situation has to stop. Unite our voices and we will understand that we are not common merchandise in their hands. October 15, we descend into the street to initiate a global change.
It is time to unite to deal, for us appropriating public space. It is time for them to listen to us. Peoples around the world will hear their voices on October 15!
For several months, thousands of people rioted in the world to enforce their human rights. Arab countries, Greece, students from Chile and England, the outraged Spain, and many others have started a movement. Pioneering this movement, the people of Iceland took control of its democracy by rewriting a new constitution in 2010.
Most recently, September 17, 2011, hundreds of people gathered on Wall Street in the heart of New York's financial district. A week later, it was clear that this occupation was only part of a larger whole. Now, worldwide, tens of thousands of citizens (do) s are involved in similar pursuits local. October 1, more than 200 major cities on four continents who have organized themselves with social media to generate an unprecedented move. Today, October 7, 2011, at a time when the manifesto is written, more than a thousand communities are part of the movement. These gatherings are the beginning of a collective dialogue where we can, together, write the next chapter in our history, the listing of a real participatory democracy rather than oligarchy unfair and unacceptable that the paradigm is in place for centuries.
We all, 99% of the world population, will unite on October 15th to end it. We are neither naive nor ignorant. We have no single application. If the world's problems could be reduced to a single issue, we would not need to do so.
Ask yourself if you voted for your life to be in the hands of less than 1% of us, if you voted for the war, corruption, pollution, media censorship or economic depression. Clearly it is time to regain control. Our illusion of freedom and democracy, our gilded cage, must undergo a major change, global and unprecedented. On 15 October 2011 and each following Saturday, we take care Quebec. As the movement gains momentum, our demands and our actions will change accordingly.
We invite everyone to join us in Quebec City at 13:30, at Place d'Youville, a central location in the city, frequented by people from all walks of life. Come join your opinion and YOUR requests.
Charter movement Occupy Together:
- Adopt a non-violent discipline, no matter the situation. Violence in all its forms has no place, whether physical or verbal. Through dialogue and communication, the best ideas are gaining ground.
- The police are part of 99% and therefore should be treated as such.
- This message needs to be unified across agencies and bystanders. There must be consistency in the message and claims that are issued. The participant (s) should know as much as possible and share these claims.
- There will be a coherent long term strategy, not just tactics and actions unconnected.
- We must keep in mind the wider audience which we address. The objective is to rally people to the cause, not alienate them.
- The movement works by Quebec deal direct democracy.
- This movement will be inclusive and positive. We therefore call for the respect of all.

Founded2011-10-15Occupy Ottawa
Ottawa ON CAOccupy Ottawa is a peaceful, vibrant, grassroots movement of many colors, genders and political persuasions. We are citizens, voters, workers, parents, professionals, students, activists and unemployed workers. We Are The 99% that will no longer tolerate the greed and corruption of the 1%.
Occupy Ottawa is independent of the Occupy Wall Street and other local and global "occupy" movements. But we share the same values and philosophy. We have come together in solidarity with ordinary citizens across the world who are mobilizing to resist the rise of crony capitalism and the collapse of accountability. We share a common concern with other global "occupy" movements: that money, backed by a legion of lawyers, lobbyists and the force of arms, controls our economic and political systems. Current monetary policies enacted through globalization and privatization are harming the majority.
We are outraged that the top one per cent of earners are improving their incomes at the expense of the remaining 99 per cent. Here in Canada, individuals making approximately $200,000 annually in total income are in the top one per cent of earners. Every day, many middle- and low-income earners are being left behind. As the privilege of the powerful grows, and the protections that shield ordinary citizens from the volatility of market cycles are shredded for the benefit of the few.
Occupy Ottawa seeks to separate money from politics and improve the country’s infrastructure to fix healthcare, education, environment and the economy.

Prince Edward Island PE CAWe, a group of concerned Islanders, have come together to say that we stand in solidarity with the Occupy movements happening across the world.
Description
We are a grassroots organization of concerned citizens who have come together to discuss the social, economic and political issues negatively impacting our lives. We recognize that many of these have their roots in an unjust political economic system and are being worsened through practices of neoliberalization. We are currently undergoing a process through which we hope to identify the provincial, federal, national and international issues that affect/concern us as Islanders. On Saturday we are holding a 'town hall' type of event at which we encourage people to come out and voice their concerns and share their stories of frustration and exploitation (info below). After identifying key issues to Islanders, we aim to move forward with a series of learning modules, walk abouts, and more politically based events and actions. The direction of these approaches will be decided through collaboration between interested group members.Twitter Users and Hashes

Founded2011-10-16Occupy Sudbury
Sudbury ON CAOccupy Sudbury is a local representation of the global Occupy Everywhere movement. It is a response to the many failings of the current system. We have organized because we reconize that justice and social change has never come from the top, but is only attained through struggle and activism from the bottom. Occupy is a participatory movement, lead by the power of consensus and general assemblies.
Occupy struggles for a more democratic and inclusive politics. Democrasy derives it's legitimacy from the people, but corporations do not seek the consent of the people to extract wealth from them, or from their land or from the Earth. No democracy is possible when the political process is determined by private corporate power. Democracy must extend into all spheres of our lives including our worplaces, universities, schools and communities.
Occupy struggles for a democratic, particiatory economics. We reconize that an increasing number of people in the world are becoming a surplus humanity; more and more people are becoming unnecessary to the profit-driven system and are being excluded from it. in the West the middle and working classes are being eroded and poverty is rising, while in the emerging world development brings prosperity for some, but disposetion and exclusion for a great many others. The politics of austerity are being pushed against the poor, the oppressed and the marginalized around the world. A world in which there is no solidarity and cooperation is one that is unsustainable.
Occupy struggles for a sustainable future. An economic system that is infinitely expanding, and that produces growing inequality will deplete and destroy the finite ecology on which it depends. the pursuit of private, short-term gain is causing dire warning about human-made climate change to go unheeded by the world's government - especially the Canadian government. Sustainability can only be achieved through justice.
Occupy reconizes that colonization of the First Nations' land is not just a set of historical events; it is an ongoing process that is closely connected to the concentration of wealth and power in the hands of the 1%. Colonization has lead to the dispossession and marginalization of the Indigenous peoples around the world and we are commited to a process of decolonization. Occupy also recognizes that the developing nations of this world have the right to benifit their populations equally with the developed nations of the world. Aboriginal rights and environmental justice must be upheld if humanity is to survive.
We support stuggles against poverty and austerity around the globe, from Greece to the Arab World. in Ontario we support the Raise the Rates campaign to dramatically raise social assistance and minimum wage and to stop the slashing of the special dietary supplement for those on social assistance.
As a society we seem to lack responsibility; quite literally our ability to respond. This is because we do not see ourselves as individuals and groups who are responsible. It is clear that major change is needed; that our system is broken, and that this system is, ultimately, a product of human labour. Thus we have the power to respond to the injustices in our societies and to re-make the system that is causing them.
We, as individuals, in our hearts and in our minds, need to reassess what is important to us and what we value. We must acknowledge that we all contributed to the problems we ourselves face; either directly through our actions, or indirectly through our inaction. Lend your ear to the voices of the forgotten, act on your decent impulses, fight for change, and exercise your response- ability!

Occupy London ONT
London ON CAOccupy London is a peaceful grassroots movement that is dissatisfied with the current political and economic systems in Canada and around the world. We are an independent branch of, and endorse, the same values and philosophy as the Occupy Wall Street movement. We have mobilized to find solutions to the difficulties we face in our society today.
Occupy London stands in solidarity with Occupy Wall Street and the European Indignants movements. We seek and work to create major change to our economic systems which are destroying our businesses, social liberties, and environment. We are, through entirely non-violent means, sending a message to the financial sector worldwide that banks exist to serve us, not the other way around, and that the practices of speculation and fractional reserve banking have created a massive inequality and are no longer valid systems.
We believe that current monetary policies enacted through globalization and privatization are unacceptably harming the majority, and that monetary policy should be created to help these very people. Our target is to change these systems to help the 99% of the population, instead of just the 1% that they currently benefit.
Everyone is encouraged to join the movement, this movement affects us all.
Who are we?
We are citizens, professionals, students, activists, parents, unemployed workers, teachers, professors, voters, business owners, and the underrepresented of the 99%. We are interested in separating money from politics and improving the country’s infrastructure to fix healthcare, education, environment and the economy.Together we can shift power away from the top 1% to be inclusive of all people.
