Occupy the Farm was founded on Earth Day 2012 (Sunday, April 22) when about 200 people took the Gill Tract and encamped for about three weeks. The Gill Tract is the last arable acreage in the East Bay and is located in Albany but "owned" by the University of California at Berkeley, a land grant university. Nonviolent direct actions are well-attended community work days and community harvests.
We are Occupy Whittier. We are in solidarity with Occupy Wall Street and the other occupations across the nation and the world. We are the 99% that demand a world that works through democracy, not corporatocracy. We deserve a representative government, and we will not be silent. We are a peaceful, nonviolent, non-partisan movement. We are not a leaderless
movement, we are a movement of leaders. Everyone is respected and welcome. Join Us!
